New York, New York
Andy Bowley is a New York-based director and cinematographer
who has filmed commercials, features, and documentaries
for the past 18 years. He uses fiction film techniques in
making documentaries, using small, lightweight cameras that
allow him the speed and unobtrusiveness to shoot in the
most demanding conditions. He has covered foreign conflicts
around the world, including those in Bosnia, Ingushetia,
Sudan, and Afghanistan. His “Faces of Hope: The Kids
of Afghanistan” won an Emmy in 2002 for the Nickelodeon
network. More recently, he has traveled to India, Guyana,
and Namibia to shoot for National Geographic’s
Worlds
Apart series, and to South Africa and Peru for Nickelodeon.
He recently completed photography on
Army of One,
a feature documentary profiling young Americans who joined
the Army in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
